LONGICORNIOS DE PUERTO RICO
$109.00
by Julio A. Micheli
2010, 298 pages, 71 b/w illustrations/plates, with text in both Spanish and English. This is not the typical scientific book, but should be viewed as a union between art and science due to its layout, typography, and design. Those characteristics, however, do not compromise the scientific content of the book.
The first section contains all the text with longhorn beetle species descriptions Cerambycidae Family, keys, and some figures. The second section contains the illustrations, which as a group may be appreciated as an album of art drawings. These remarkable illustrations were originally executed with graphite pencils (various grades) on special textured paper, and are reproduced in the book in their original size in almost all cases. Hardcover; 9-1/4 x 8-7/8″.
