This unique product is designed to store important or valuable collections. Applications include storage of insects that may be extinct, endangered, or threatened, type collections, or a variety of other materials that may be irreplaceable.
The BioQuip patented design is state-of-the-art in collection storage, light years ahead of other products used to protect specimens, artifacts, and documents. As illustrated above, it is produced to Cornell insect drawer dimensions. It can also be fabricated with other horizontal dimensions.
The drawers advanced design lends itself to solutions for problems that can have destructive effects on specimens:
UV light damage
Specimens housed in the drawer are exposed to only four inorganic materials (none will harm specimens):
Anodized aluminum sides
Acrylic plastic bottom
Soft silicone gasket with visible sealing protects against humidity fluctuation, pest infestation or undesirable gas exchange
Transparent laminated safety glass top remains intact even with a strong hammer blow; shatterproof and scratch resistant
Heavy plastic lamination within glass top filters out 99.6% of all UV light from ambient sources
Easily frozen intact for protection against pests introduced with specimens
This drawer is intended for use with unit trays or other accessories. It is furnished with a pull knob and two tracks for data labels. The anodized finish is a warm walnut color. The transparent glass top is held in place with four pivot latches, and lifts out with a cemented ring loop.
The technology used in this drawer may be adapted to other sizes suitable for housing many kinds of valued objects such as photos, textiles, shells, maps and charts, documents, original art, prints, and small animal skins.
