BioQuip’s USNM drawer is produced from a design modification at the Smithsonian Institution (U.S. National Museum). The change was made to facilitate a less complex unit that can be produced more economically. The drawer incorporates important features of other insect storage drawers manufactured by BioQuip:
Close tolerance controls developed by over 50 years of experience in insect drawer production
One-piece construction technique to assure tight fitting, matching tops to bottoms
These unique features reduce risk of pest infestation and greatly increase length of time necessary between fumigation. The drawer is made of basswood sides, with glass top and hardboard bottom. Standard exterior USNM dimensions are used, but there is additional interior space from front to back. It accommodates BioQuip #1025V, W, X and Y unit pinning trays. A finger relief is provided on each side for easy drawer opening, and a 5/8″ brass knob is supplied. Foam pinning bottoms are offered as options if unit trays are not used. The exterior is spray finished with sealer and dark brown gloss acrylic. Water borne spray finishes used in this drawer are environmentally safe, and regulatory compliant. For institutions or private collections already committed to USNM system dimensions, BioQuips hardwood drawer provides high quality, permanent insect storage protection at a reasonable price. Dimensions:
18 x 18 x 2-7/8″ O.D.; 16-1/4 x 16-3/4 x 2-5/16″ I.D.
