WHO (World Health Organization) Aspirator
The WHO (World Health Organization) in-line tube aspirator is a convenient and inexpensive collecting device. It was originally designed to collect mosquitoes but is often used to collect other small insects.
The 12″ (30.5 cm) collection tube is 1/2″ OD (13 mm) vinyl. A 150 micron aluminum screen is permanently bonded onto one end of the tube.
An additional 2″ (51 mm) vinyl tube is provided to serve as the mouth piece. The 24″ (61 cm) long vinyl tube connects the mouth piece to the collecting tube. Two #000 neoprene stoppers are provided to keep specimens secured in the tube until they are transferred to a suitable container. One stopper is used with the aspirator and the other serves as a spare.
