Collapsible Insect Nets
Versatile folding nets are larger versions of the famous #7112CP pocket net which BioQuip introduced in 1956. Collapsible field nets in 15″ or 18″ diameter fold down to about 1/3 size of the ring diameter. They are stowed conveniently in collecting bags, daypacks, luggage or (large) pockets.
Nets have an anodized aluminum handle, 5″ long x 3/4″ diameter (12.7 x 2cm), and spring steel net ring. Aerial bags in white or dark green are standard. See #7215NA, #7115GR, #7218NA, #7218GR for replacement bags. The #7215WA, #7215SA, #7218WA & #7218SA extra soft aerial bags, and #7215FA & #7218FA close weave net bags are also suitable extra bags for these nets.
Click on the Info icon next to the catalog number for instructions on folding collapsible nets. The larger 18″ model requires somewhat stronger hands and wrists for refolding. The handle can be extended to any desired length with 12″ and/or 24″ extension segments; see #7312AA and #7312AB. A red vinyl handle grip, #7357, helps spot a net in the field, protects hands, and keeps dirt and rock out of the handle.

Does this come with extensions? Or do you have to purchase them separately?
Dear Christina,
I apologize for the delay in response. If you still need an answer to your inquiry The collapsible nets do not come with handle extensions, you purchase them separately to get the desired handle length. They come in 2 sizes 12″ #7312AA, and 24″ #7312AB. You may also want to get a red grip for the end of the handle and that is part number 7357.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you,
Celia

Can a dowel rod be used as a handle for this like it can with the pocket net? The pocket net suggests using a 5/8″ dowel. What size dowel would you suggest using for this sized net?
Dear Mary,
The 18″ and 15″ collapsible nets are exactly like the pocket net, they just have a larger diameter net ring. The handles are identical so yes, you could use a wooden dowel of the same size, in the same manner if you did not want to use the aluminum handle extensions that are designed to go with it. Part numbers 7312AA and 7312AB. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Celia
